The keyword is you better not get caught riding that quad or dirt bike on state gamelands. And up there that is pretty much everything to the right of the main road.

DId anyone see the warehouse structures they torn down before building Martins plaza? The building(s) were made of Railway cars and rail ties. then a roof placed over the framing. One had the cars on both sides and a large walk way in the milddle. I love to see those types of buildings, using what you had to get done what you needed Done.

Legal inspected & Insured Vehicles are permitted to access public lands unless other wise posted or gated (like boulders steel or wood) all private lands before and after Public land(s) has to permit you the "right-away" ROAD as access to the Game lands or Parks. THE KEY WORDS HERE ARE Legal & permit. Those that got to the woods just thrashing around destroying everything are the ones that need to be concerned about tickets. The rest can enjoy our trails in peace. Remember if it is “Posted “ stay out, its for your safety more than anything.

BLOWING SMOKE
"Thousands of Acres for legal gas operated trail riding, hiking and spelunking." Really? I would bet the game warden would have something to say along with a nice fat citation if you get caught riding a gas operated vehicle up in those government hunting grounds you mention.

You forgot
You forgot to mention two of the most important tourist attractions we have to offer, the rusty caboose and the three story wood framed advertising skyscraper.

If your post is true, it’s nothing a lot of us have been saying for years. Thanks for giving us your view from the outside, keep coming we’re getting there. (I hope this is a real post.) Without government help and its big handouts I do not think the average resident can do it, bring Connellsville alive that is. But don‘t worry the above average is trying hard to take your money... This town is a treasure waiting to be found. We have not one or two types of transportation us we have, Four (4) The River, Youghiogheny. The Highway State, Route 199. The Airport, Joe Hardy Airport & the Bike trail. (1) The River is packed with public places and private locations great for fishing or for chilling like; A. “The River park“(pier) just off of 119 North & South. [br ] B. “The Turtle Rock & Cliffs” in South Connellsville, south on Pittsburgh Street. Just off R119. It is a huge sand stone shaped like a turtle in the middle of the cold river great for all day sun and current swimming. {br] C. “Three sisters “(SC) on the west side of the river, it has nice cool spots for bikers on the trail. D. “The Beach Island “(SC) A place to chill and watch the Ladies (& men) tan their hides. (2) The Bike trail; Well it’s a nicely maintained tree lined trail right down the middle of the City. With shops right along the trail to cater to your trail needs. (3) A Major High ways (Route 119) also runs through the City Both North and South bond lanes can reach the cities inner treasures. (4) The Joe Hardy Airport is just a few miles down the road. A long with all these ways to access the city you have the Country roads ((R201-R819-R711). Some of the best in the County, for not only the incredible views of ridge tops and amazing amber fields of grain they are also amount the safes and most well maintained in the County. We have Caspis and the Government Hunting Ground all on the same road (South Pittsburgh Street and 711 accesses) Thousands of Acres for legal gas operated trail riding, hiking and spelunking. We have many great public parks for the kids and the sports lovers alike. Like East Park, the South Connellsville play grounds and Dutch Bottom ball fields. Along with the tons of out door sports and leisure spots to enjoy --you also have some of the greatest Craftsmen Artists & Business orientated people in the County yes I said Country. World renown Artists Authors Musicians Wood smiths Doctors Farmers Scholars Heroes and down right nice people. We have Deep history and a future, so like I said if you’re “for real” tell your friends C’vile will give you what you’re looking for, just give us time and tell us what we can help you with.

I am from Pittsburgh and I ride the trail every week from Pittsburgh to Ohiopyle and sometime beyond. I am not alone. I talk with people from Pittsburgh and the DC area and thousands appreaciate the true treasure the Great Allegheny Passage really is. On the stretch from Mckeesport to Ohiopyle, Connellsville is the only real town. I stop there twice a week as do many others for the same reason. I wish there was a trailside cafe in town to grab a bite to eat or even have a cold beer. I would love to rent a raft and float the river for an hour or so. I stop at your riverside park and relax. It's an oasis on the trail. Develop your attitudes and your businesses along the trail and watch them both grow. True, it may be seasonal, but then again so is Virginia Beach! You have a wonderful opportunity--don't let it pass you by. Take it from the people who love your town as they pass through. Take our money please? :-)

food for thought
Reading over the posts here the last several weeks, I was just curious as to how people expect kids to get along when adults can't? What are you teaching your children by getting on here and calling people names... making threatening remarks, etc?Sometimes it makes you wonder who the "kids" really are in this situation. Just for the record, I have no personal interest in any of this school "business". And while I can understand that it seems to be something that alot of the community feels passionate about (no matter which "side" of the issue you're on), I just think it's sad to see the way it's being handled... at least here on this message board anyway. I'm sure I'll take some "lumps" for voicing my opinion, but perhaps it might make at least one person stop and think before they lash out unnecessarily.

Once a proud Homeowner
I have a fence around the back, Some people like to make the front yard look nice for the neighboorhood to see without putting up a six foot privacy fence. Maybe we need electric fencing like cattle to keep our yards safe ...... Teach kids to respect other peoples Property, I will teach mine Like i was taught

i feel for you . the bad thing about ignorance is that its everywhere . just some places are less likely to have things happen . i know you dont want to have to pursue this but it would be personal to me and i would do what i had to to scree the little bastards over .

I was So excited 4 years ago when i got to move into a nice home in the southside to raise my son, this was a very nice area calm and quiet... But it seems no matter how hard people try you cant keep things nice and quiet. I have tried Decorating for all holidays buy every time some little child who's parents dont know where or what their child is doing DESTROYS things... I stoped decorating outside for this reason. We put time and money into the decorations and all we get is ignorance. I used to enjoy decorating now i fear it. I also plant flowers and Have a pond but that is also a down fall as many other people who have these know some people and their kids cant help from destroying, or Plucking, Or even throwing things into the areas. This morning 2 kids ran into my yard and crushed a bunch of flowers. Broke my garden ornaments and threw the stones in the pond.. i keep to myself and dont bother anyone..... SUMMER ONLY STARTED.. Is this behavior necessary... We should not have to install outdoor cameras to prevent this. The Mountains are looking VERY nice...

yep board flooding once again . same few easy to figure out al you have to do is post then watch how fast your message disappears into the faded pages of when it was posted . still is and has been obvious that it is not real discussion only a few playing childish games . evenwhen i post thre or four times in a short period it covers only one page or less . then along come the seemingly legitimate posters yet suddenly you fall back in line to thre or four pages of repetitive crap well enjoy sooner or later you will tire

How interesting it would be for people on here to use their IP address when they post. I have a feeling that alot of the recent posts here are from the same person. And I also have a feeling that "Lawsuit Larry" is up past his bedtime without parental permission. Sometimes it's just best to "read between the lines". ***sigh***

so sorry
to hear this. Its a shame that you have to pick and choose. Have you spoken to someone at Armstrong lately? I would keep on them. No reason they can't offer a few channels at a discounted rate for people on a fixed income! Good luck!!

poor old geezer
I live in one of the senior apartment complexes in town. I have a limited income. Armstrong Cable has been telling us seniors for years, that they are working on a reduced rate package for seniors. We don't need all the channels or any of the extras. It would be nice to be able to watch something on TV other than channel 11. That's all I can get with rabbit ears. And it is all snowy. We are not allowed to deal with anyone except Armstrong and they suck. I had my cable disconnected more than a year ago because they kept going up in price. I also droped my subscription to the newspaper to be able to afford the internet service where at least I can read parts of the newspapers on line. Food and medicine come first. I do subscribe to the slowest and cheapest internet service an will soon have to stop that also. Armstrong cable is greedy.

Name:
A problem does exist but a veneer surface has been put over the problem. Its right in front of us but as Prez. Bush said after “911 “It’s all ok ---- go out and spend. We did spend we spent so much we started spending money we would never be able to repay. We were live stock and now the Nation is hurting. What is happening to our town is happening in most of the towns big and small across our Nation. Everything is getting out of reach -jobs vacations food prices and materials (I don’t want to even mention fuel.) So this means fend for ourselves, there is little help out there now… Great idea, I love fending for myself “always have always will” but we take it too far and close our doors and hide. No one wants to do more then complain, or should I say many. A lot of us are learning the old school ways all over again its amazing what you can do with a little knowledge. Connellsville isn’t a great place granted, but it wasn’t always like this. I know the coal business keep it alive but this is( as a few posters stated to me) “2008” not “1108.” We don’t need coal to make Connellsville as our happy home, don’t get me wrong I realize its not bunny rabbit’s and sunny days all the time. However there has to be something to look forward to. I agree a bike trail isn’t the solution; however it is a part of the puzzle. Soon and I mean soon Connellsville residents will have little money to travel out side of the County, Sure we are showing a Good front now, just wait our plasticity is growing thin. It’s not a bad thing, being a community that is how it’s supposed to work, sharing working playing praying and drinking together. . As for this board's ability to bring out problems; Well its has its good points but most get lost in nameless anger.

You're right - pie in the sky attitudes are of no benefit. First step to solve a problem is to acknowledge that it exists. I think this board provides a great opportunity to bring the problems out into the open so the first step in solving them can be accomplished.
