An Observer
I think McIntire is on the right track. People are being fined for burning trash. The police want called when you witness burning in the city limits. People are being fined for parking on sidewalks. As for the cat ordinance, it hasn't sat for 90 days, therefore cannot be enforced. I, for one, hope they enforce it to the fullest. Why should dogs be singled out with licenses and accountability? It is time for cat owners to realize they can't just let their cat roam the neighborhoods without taking responsibility for their actions. Personally, I think the lights add a certain style and quaintness to the main street. I hope they put in more to make it a little brighter. As for the Armory, I am glad that the city was able to gain control of it before some half-way house, drug rehabilitation center, mentally-challenged facility, slum lord was able to get their hands on it. Hopefully, the city will eventually sell it to an individual with plans in motion to make it a center for all to enjoy. Can you focus on the positive changes in town? How about the new signage to advertise our history and heritage? The plans are to make a walkway/biketrail through town to display our positive features in Connellsville. How about all the money that is being granted on Monday to Connellsville to help move it in the right direction? That is exciting. There are a group of individuals in town presently who want to see Connellsville have a brighter future...my hats off to them! Keep up the good work!

Connellsville City Council
Connellsville City Council soon will consider passing an ordinance requiring cats to be licensed, restrained and vaccinated. An annual license will cost $15 or a reduced $10 fee if the feline is spayed or neutered. Fines for violations stagger accordingly from $10 daily fees for wandering pets impounded at the SPCA for first-time offenders and $20 daily fees after the first offense. Owners will be fined an additional $50 if SPCA quarantines it. According to the regulation, violators would face a maximum $250 fine and costs and can be jailed if the fines are not paid.

Whatever...
Is it Friday? Nope. It's got to be Saturday. I know this because while I was taking a walk on the North Side this morning I smelled the sweet aroma of burning plastic. Ahhhhhh how I long for the old days. Takes me back to the old days. When there was no manditory garbage collection and recycling, coke ovens blew out toxic smoke, there was limited indoor plumbing so people used Thunder Mugs and crapped in out houses. Only trash burn trash. Why would any sane person burn garbage? I can hear them now. "Daaaa we always burned garbage. My daddy always burned plastic, meath papers and dog shi-t. Whys them people mads at us for the burning?" What MORONS. What's worse is Councilman McIntire pushed a burn ban a year or so ago. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BURN BAN? No lets tax cats and dogs. Fine idiots for parking on sidewalks - which they NEVER do. Lets put street lamps up that most never work and are worse than the old lamps were. Lets stop people from speaking at public comment cause they don't live in the city that should be a boro. Lets spend millions on an old dump of an armory. BUT when it comes to morons burning garbage, well lets do some lip service and pretend that this is the 1800's when people burned their garbage and crapped in outhouses. Welcome to Connellsville and breathe in deep because after you get out of the BORO (city) everyone knows where you came from because theyr can smell you coming a mile away. ONLY TRASH BURN TRASH.

OXYMORON
Now that is an oxymoron, Chamber of commerce? Connellsville? Hahahahaha. Possibly the fireworks were delayed until the first annual Queen Judy caboose painting, river wading, bike trail riding, tree cutting, license plate polishing, meeting hushing spectacular which is yet to be scheduled. The bottom line is New Haven took care of this for years, then the queen had to stick her big nose into business where she had no reason or right to stick it, and NEw Haven became pissed. Hence another typical screwed up Connellsville mess.

Dang you make a good point also...My reply was more general ,asin National, but I see where your coming from. Connellsville isn't the only little city that's lost its way, the Nation is infested with a "all about me" life style, hopefully a few months of a cold hunrgy and jobless life will give us the boost to pull together- at least a little. Remember those with the power decide who gets the prize.....So a flower wins over a broken down Vet not putting money into their pots.

I'll tell you what I am saying, I am saying this city invests more time, effort and money celebrating a flower than they do celebrating the birth of their nation. Next time they have one of those hip hip hooray what does Connellsville offer the world meetings, remember it sure isn't that they try to pull community together by aiding in celebrating our history, instilling pride in our local citizens for the what a great nation we are. No wonder our kids will grow up without any real pride, we can't even get this city to show some, so why would the next generation....Of course hopefully they will grow up with a wonderful appreciation of geraniums....what a joke.

I agree "Me" a few pops in the sky a hand full of potato chips and a beer, dosen't say Thank you VET or Happy Independance. If the Fire works did not happen in the ville I'm not angry. People seem to think the days for calendar celebration, like having to prove your American by flying a flag on "Flag day", is the main way we prove we love our Country. Gotta celebrate each and every "hoilday" exactly how we did it last time, no changes not mistakes... Its funny just a few days ago it was un American to vote against the school changes, now your a commie because it RAINED..lol Whats next, will we be pinko commies if we don't have Halloween from 7 to 9 this year?

Maybe something better than fireworks would be for each of us to visit, call, e-mail, whatever.. to a current member or veteran of our Armed Forces and thank them for their service and sacrifice. I know I thanked a veteran today and his appreciation did more for me than any fireworks display ever did!

Thank goodness you are proud of the signing of the Constitution. The 4th of July celebrates the signing of the Declaration of INDEPENDENCE 232 years ago today. Thank a veteran that you can live in such a great free nation and thank a teacher that you don't know what we are celebrating today. The constitution was written 1787, Delaware was the first state to ratify it on December 7, 1787, and the US Constitution went into effect on June 21, 1788 when New Hampshire became the 9th state to ratify it. George Washington was sworn in as the first President of the USA on April 30, 1789. You're welcome.

You posted that "We do have a parade for every other holiday though." Exactly what other holidays do we have parades for that includes every? Connellsville has a parade for Memorial Day and Veterans Day (one of these rotates annually with 2 other towns, so it is in Connellsville once every 3 years), Halloween, and I think we still have a Christmas Parade. I looked at my calendar and 4 holidays are only a few of the many holidays that we celebrate. Unless I missed it, Connellsville does not have a New Year's Day Parade, a Martin Luther King, Jr Day Parade, a President's Day parade, a Groundhog Day parade, a St Patrick's Day parade, a Valentines Day parade, an April Fool's day parade, a Flag Day parade, an Arbor Day parade, a Labor Day parade, or a Thanksgiving Day parade. I probably missed a few, but it is very obvious that Connellsville does not have a parade for EVERY other holiday.

And exactly, what are you saying? I very much appreciate the signing of the Constitution of the United States and what it represents. Do I need to set off fireworks on a certain to show that appreciation? Not necessarily. Do I appreciate the fact that certain organizations put fireworks off for all to enjoy with donated funds and organized committees? Yes, Most certainly! If the fireworks are not exhibited by said organization, do I feel betrayed and disloyal to the United States? No, of course not. Would I want the city to step in at the last minute and attempt to get something together at the cost of the taxpayer without prior approval? No, not necessarily. Will I find another display of fireworks to enjoy and celebrate? Hopefully. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!!!

You know what, it doesnt matter if it was the Chabmer of the City itself, they are both pathetic when it comes to supporting the freedom they all take for granted. Weather was a factor, but the reason for the delay to timber days was cost savings so they didnt have to pay overtime for the guy to put them off on the 4th. It's a shame that celebrating our freedom comes down to cost savings. And if the city cared and wante to show their pride, then stand up and be proud of what many have died for, celebrate it, show the citizens of this town that we may not have much to celebrate, but we do have our freedom.....it's that freedom that allows us to celebrate a rediculous geranium festival, pretty bad when flowers are more important then celebrating the freedom of our nation... Amazing though, I saw some pretty large fireworks last night.....guess I will hold out for those big fireworks on timber days, casue we all know what a huge exported of timber the city of Connellsville is, can't forget to celebrate that big historic event....

The time is 'NOW' to take bsck our community of Fayette County . Its not about politics , election of friends , Popularity . ... Its about community pride . Lets give our children back the community they deserve . The time is 'NOW' to subsitute PROMiSES with ACTION , It is time for a change in Fayette County from uncontrolled crime in our streets Drug Problem and moral indecency in our public Sheriff"s office to a county that we can be much proud of . From being second to South Philadelphia Pa . in teenage pregancy to zero teenage pregancies . From 199 teenage abortions in 2005 to zero abortions . Right now we have the whole country observing us and in shock of unbelieveable . Now are we the right place for fathers and mothers throughout the country to permit their sons and daughters to come to ? Mr Ted Pritchard I am willing to contribute in solving your problems !!!! I offer ACTION NOT PROMISES !!!! It was a choice between God's principles vs. the Devils Principles People . When I Robert Ted Pritchard Sr. aka Mr Ted , Mr Ted Pritchard ran for election for Fayette County Pa. Sheriff against the incumbent Gary D. Brownfield Sr. I informed the voters frequently in explicit language on WMBS radio on a daily basis of Brownfield's seven year adulterious affair with his office manager . ------ I told the voters it was between God's Principles and Devils Principles which I ran in the primary and in the General Election 07 . Well the results came in , The Devil won a landslide victory over God , in fact in Fairchance Pa. were I reside I only recieved four votes in the General election 07 , these four votes belonged to my brother ,his wife ,my wife and my vote . I only received approximately a total of fifty votes throughout Fayette County Pa. Brownfield was endorsed by the Herald Standard our local newspaper , the newspaper had knowledge of Brownfields adulterious affair ,in fact Brownfield admitted of his adulterous affair to the Editoral Board when they interviewed the both of us . In their editoral endorsing Brownfield the paper said that his office manager have to answer to someone rather then Brownfield but endorsed Brownfield for Sheriff . So life goes on !!! And Fayette County Pa. is controlled by the DEVIL :

Time is now
Happy July 4th everyone. Discrimination is alive and well in Connellsville Area School District. Put the 2 projects in 1 school (Zach) sure looks like discrimination and segregation to me. Keeping the Gibson Terrace children from their NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL of South Side Elementary is WRONG. Since it's July 4th lets think of the innocent children that could almost walk to SS and get CASD to stop discrimination. Please conatcte the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), the ACLU and the Department of Education. Children can't be held responsible for their parents education, job salary or where their parents live. Finding fauld with children on Independence Day is the act of people that think that the Segregation and Discrimination of the Gibson Terrace children is fine and dandy. The Gibson Terrace children live closer to SS than alot of the kids that currently go to SS. I say the school board should do this; Live north of Patterson Ave to Arch St your kids go to Zach. They are closer to Zach than the Gibson Terrace children anyways. Live south of Patterrson Ave to Arch St then your children go to their NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL of South Side Elementary. All of South Connellsville and the Gibson Terrace would go to their neighborhood school of South Side Elementary. YES I AM KEEPING THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE ALIVE. Segregation and discrimination are cowardly acts and the people that allow them, need to be made to change these moronic acts targeted on children. The people that would turn their backs on segregation and discrimination of children or say they have to choose their battles because to act would change their sheltered lives need to be adults and do what is the Christian thing for ALL children. Pretending something doesn't exist will not make it go away or be a legitimate defense for these poor souls. It is a NIMBY issue for these people - Not In My Back Yard. For them as long as it is another school building's problem then they could care less. Oh well. If you think that the Gibson Terrace children are being discriminated against according to their Civil Rights, Equal Protection under the law and have and deserve the right to go to their Neighborhood School of South Side Elementary then post on here and FILE COMPLAINTS. Ignor the posters that want to continue with the South Side Elementary School status quo of segregation and discrimination. The ones that think nobody cares. The one that say ONLY ONE poster cares. The ones that reply to their own posts in an attempt to say that this issue is not important. In my opinion these people are cowards.

First of all, the Chamber of Commerce is responsible for the fireworks this year (New Haven has done them in the past). It was their call to postpone until Timber Days. The Chamber of Commerce also sponsors Timber Days, so this way they are saving money on fireworks. It is unfortunate that the weather didn't cooperate, but it is very difficult to put fireworks off in wet weather. Secondly, the City and Mayor had nothing to do with this call. Complain to the Chamber of Commerce! Thirdly, The Parade: We have never had a parade on the 4th of July. We do have a parade for every other holiday though. Maybe you should start a tradition and plan one for next year. Happy July 4th everyone!!!!
