i think world wide webcams would be good to put up with a good update rate at key locations either in connellsville or close by to attract visitors. bike trail, ohiohpyle, the ark perhaps , east park not the cop cams . als would love to see a cable ride from top of west penn hill to the other side ofthe yough . not gondola type the single person type in harness seat . these are very popular . in several countries and do well as far as revenue . just a couple wild ideas while in altered states. the lids been closed for hours . lol a joke

The drumbeats tell me that there is an idea to place a static line from Cas-paris to the Yough River. This would be the longest line ride in the state. Both Areas are Government run and maintained. An interesting concept even if it is just an idea.

horse and buggy rides through the areas where the old homes are still in good shape would that be isabella road still ? just for the people of connellsville you could use a mini bus system . im sure it would get used and perhaps even be profitable . lot of elderly that want to get out and see things and pay bills that have no transportation also rides to bingo etc etc

Now that is a very good idea . I would like to see a modern 3-4- story high- rise built in down town Connellsville and a mini bus system for the area . I miss the street-car. I would move back tomorrow .

Narrow thinking, immediate answers of "NO!" is stagnation. Please don't glue yourself to talking points-- widen your horizon, discuss broadly and perhaps an idea could sprout in which the "government" is not in the formula. This is the problem as I see it--"No.....discussion is over". Think. Discuss. Kind, respectful conversation. The once good Republican Party has nowadays fallen victim stagnation.

RE: mr 2020 jack, you have some interesting ideas. Did you leave your heart here in Connellsville?
sure did . you leave start a career you have to remain because it is too hard to make money like i did back there . could have workd pittsburgh i guess but i really hate traffic .

all you would need is a few airport shuttle type busses. a small depot by opening one of the buildings still safe to use . create a few jobs etc etc .
It's called a zip line. A steel cable connecting two points, usually trees, that you ride by holding onto a handle and a harness holding you up. Very nice one up at Nemacoling Woodlands, a new one in upstate NY, and the best are in the rain forests.

Never mind, definition given, but check out Nemacolin's ride. I think I saw it on You Tube or on www.nemacolinwoodlands.com

Hi Jack,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I had to sort through all those "mr2020"posts to find you.
I agree, a WWW cam would be great to put up for the world to see The Good Stuff. Ligonier has one in their downtown. It is SLOW, but it's there. The 15425online site I started was inspired in part by that site, and that site really helps keep a productive focus and activity in that community.
So why not here?
Cams to show the world the beauty of the trail, and other parts of town?
A community website with a number of focused authors (I am looking for more) who contribute to the site, and to the city? That's why I started 15425online
Some really cool stuff, like the cable ride.
There are HUGE GRANTS that come into this town, one right now is in play for somewhere close to $200,000 - much of it for BENCHES AND GARBAGE cans in downtown. If we got grants for interesting things, not just expensive water fountains and benches....
But it won't happen unless we start helping direct what's going on, participating, letting "the powers that be" know, dumb stuff that looks pretty doesn't cut it.
Thanks Jack! Hope to meet you at the Connellsville Pizza Party some Friday night!

A scenic zipline through Casparis would be cool, but would it generate enough interest to pay for its self and be profitable. Not sure. You would have to price it low enough to bring people in, but high enough to pay employees, upkeep, TAXES, and to make a profit. Another problem is that no private company would want to come in and lease land to put up something as permanent as a zipline course. There is a lot of work and money to put in a zipline course. It is more than just hanging cables. I have thought about partnering with a company that does nothing but ziplines, but every time I find land that would be suitable (easy access, good trees, etc) the owners don't want to sale. Most of these owners got the land for close to nothing or inherited it, so they want to make millions off of it, then they are the same ones who cry about Wal-Mart or Joe Hardy. Connellsville will never be even close to being as nice as it was, because people are greedy and jealous of each other.

I can get behind this type of business model. It suggests intelligence and energy. It will have a low impact on nature, even though that really does not matter. It also creates an avenue toward revenue, by creating a friendly character or persona for the area. A town like Connellsville could benefit from a resort type label. We don’t even have to erect one major attraction, because it is all local and advertisement anyway..
To be shallow for a moment, the new entertainment is Green entertainment, or at least the allusion of green. What’s greener then a River valley that has sat, basically untouched, for 30 odd years. Fix up what you can afford and offer unique qualities, the traffic is coming.
Many of those who become wealthy dream, as we all do, of leisure’s reward.. They dream of scenic views, charming hospitality, and professional entertainment. They want friendly surroundings, high stakes yet safe adventures, history and the choice of anonymity. They pay for the pleasure of being treated special, again we all do. When they amass enough for their dreams, they try to bring those dreams to life. This area if refined properly could be a stop on their search for leisure. New adventures get the most attention.
The city could prosper with its present size for the twelve months of the year, on 5 months consumer traffic. Only if it works with what it has, not what it had. The history is important, but only as a part. At first simplicity is the best angle. Provide the staples, food and lodging for their tired hungry bones, drink and cheer for their tired hungry souls…The empty spaces will fill as the demand for specialties show themselves. Why aim to increase the population, for revenues sake, when at this size the city has the tools to meet those needs and more.
This area is up for grabs; again. Gambling & Gas is leading the way. We can live with it or without it, but we cannot stop it… Why not take advantage of it.
